NEIGHBORHOOD LAW IN APPADOCIA

NEIGHBORHOOD LAW IN APPADOCIA

Neighborhood law is of great importance in the social and cultural life of Cappadocia. The neighbor is almost like a member of the family. In the social and cultural life of Cappadocia, there is also a saying that the neighbor needs the ashes of his neighbor. This saying is so important that people always struggle to help each other in illness, weddings and funerals. Hacı Aziz Başar, the neighbor of our hotel Nar Cave House, is a neighbor of ours who we are happy with, located below our hotel. He is a neighbor of ours who always puts his humanity first by providing directions and all kinds of assistance to the guests who come to our hotel. He is an exemplary old man with his workmanship, always dealing with something on the road with his wife Sevil Başar. In Cappadocia, cooperation between neighbors is very important, and as in our proverb, there is a saying "Don't Buy a House, Buy a Neighbor." In the history of Cappadocia, neighbors always helped each other at weddings and funerals. In the past, when they needed crockery for dinner parties, they would borrow it. In the past, when vehicles and equipment were scarce, they would lend their horses and carriages to each other to transport and transport their patients. This was called imece. Although these needs have decreased with the development of technology, cooperation still continues. The culture of helpfulness and earning good deeds in Turkish society always shows itself in social life.
